At Mamute Martial Arts, we now have a new program, our Micro Mamute class which is a martial arts curriculum specifically designed for children ages 3 to 4.
Each child will experience beginner training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that focuses on abilities which are currently developing; skills such as hand –eye coordination, focus, memorization, motor skills, teamwork, confidence building and the need to relieve energy levels through fun fitness methods.
These skills have been broken down into enjoyable, safe exercises, games and activities that are designed with their stage of development in mind.
Our Micro Mamute class reinforces self-confidence and discipline through focused based drills. We believe these practices are essential at this stage in a child’s development. More advanced drills and techniques are reserved for the older class groups who have a basis in the skills we promote in our Micro Mamute program. While older students are brought into our more advanced classes, they will not have the head-start that younger children will get in the Micro program.
Our program will promote meaningful mental and physical results in a friendly family environment with clear levels of development and enjoyable, fun activities.
BENEFITS
Self-Defense – Mamute Martial Arts Academy has instructors who have trained for many years to make sure everything we teach is reality based. Your child is still in the developmental stage of their life and our program will focus only on the basics of curriculum. Basic Techniques include: Proper exercise form, anti-bullying and team building techniques.
Focus – Focus plays a key role in the mindset of children who have limited attention spans at this stage in their life. Our Program will build their attention span, teaching your child to focus on the task at hand while improving their listening and reaction skills at the same time. As a result, your child will see improvement in physical activity and focus inside and outside of our academy.
Teamwork and Social Interaction – Teamwork is necessary for any young child to develop. It is at this stage in their life that they develop an understanding and a confidence in their ability to work with others. Teamwork oriented environments develops character and teaches students that working together has measured results for the rest of the team.
Self-Control – When your child has learned to pay attention in class while listening to our instructors instead of talking to their peers, you will see benefits outside of the academy as well. As parents ourselves, we work on this skill set every class for the benefit of all parties involved.
Physical Balance Benefits – For many 3-4 year olds, one of the skillsets that is often overlooked, but needs special attention, is balance and posture – these are basic skills necessary for development in the later years. Poor posture leads to cramped organs, improper breathing, and a whole host of other unhealthy physical effects over time Healthy postures and balanced movement are developed through the use of age appropriate forms and drills – often presented as an engaging game, to help our students improve these necessary progressions.
Memorization and Retention – Here at Mamute Martial Arts Academy, we utilize fun and effective memory and retention drills for both inside and outside of the gym. You’ll find in many cases, our students display advanced memorization skills prior to being introduced to them at their school. Our program improves memorization skills which are essential for well-rounded student development over the years.
Self-Discipline and Responsibility – Our instructors are experienced at encouraging your child that self-discipline is fun and rewarding. We instill this vision through teamwork oriented games and drills. Your child will begin to improve their ability to initiate accountability, follow directions and take accountability in all of their daily responsibilities.
Stranger Awareness and Personal Safety – At Mamute Martial Arts Academy, we talk with our Micro Mamutes about safety and self defense as it pertains to martial arts training.

PARENTAL DUTIES AND ADVICE
1) Make sure your child attends class regularly; our students should adjust to strive for consistency. If attending class becomes an option and not a priority, they will not adjust well.
2) Watch your child participate often – your child wants to make you proud. The best way they can show you how well they are doing is for you to see it for yourself and so that they can see your interest in them.
3) Monitor your child’s progression over the months.
A common concern among parents who are looking to register their children in our programs is that martial arts can cause a drive towards violence and aggression. However, the opposite is actually true. Through consistent, fun and focused training, children will quickly discover an inner confidence and strength which enables them to move beyond the need to prove themselves around their peers physically. The physical, mental, emotional and developmental benefits provided by our Ajax martial arts programs are first class. We believe that no other single activity will provide your child with the combined benefits that our program has to offer.Even though Mamute Martial Arts instructors strive to create an atmosphere of leadership and motivation, we can’t do it without the help of the parents themselves. Here are some vital points that will help you and your child get the most out of our programs.
